In the season return of Rockwiz, charismatic host Julia Zemiro welcomes the show's first ever married musical guests: Kasey Chambers and husband singer/songwriter Shane Nicholson. The usual game show dagginess is in short supply among the delightfully bohemian surrounds of The Gershwin Room at St Kilda's Esplanade Hotel, which makes Rockwiz seem more like quirky pub trivia than a TV quiz show.

In the season opener a radiant Zemiro returns as emcee, bringing just the right amount of cheekiness and charm to the role. Expect all the usual self-professed music geeks battling it out over useless music-related trivia; the human music encyclopaedias that frequent the show have long been one of its drawcards. With lounge room spectators everywhere attempting to keep up, you can't help but marvel at the obscene knowledge of some of these contestants, who participate for nothing more than the glory of winning.

If you can endure Kasey and Shane's whiney, ear-piercing duet 'Rattlin' Bones' and a scanty rendition of Kylie's 'Can't Get You Out of My Head', then the rest of the show is a treat. And apart from the irksome vocals, the cute couple are surprisingly endearing.

If you find yourself disastrously devoid of plans on a Saturday night, then be sure to flick onto Rockwiz for a bit of music education.

Rockwiz returns to SBS on Saturday, August 30 at 9:20pm.
